Cryogenic equipment supplier Nikkiso Clean Energy & Industrial Gases (Nikkiso CE&IG) Group has secured an order to deliver multiple pumps for a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Brunsbüttel, adding to its growing portfolio of equipment for Germany’s LNG import infrastructure.

Nikkiso Clean Energy & Industrial Gases Group has secured a significant contract with CS Gas North to provide 16 submerged motor pumps for the German LNG terminal in Brunsbüttel. The company is manufacturing high-pressure, low-pressure, and ship-loading pumps for the project, which is being built by German LNG Terminal and is scheduled to be operational in 2027.

Ole Skatka-Jensen, Regional Vice-President for Europe, Middle East and Africa at Nikkiso CE&IG, commented: “The German LNG Terminal is a crucial part of Germany’s energy future thanks to the supply of LNG and green gases, as well as preparing for the future hydrogen economy.”

CS Gas North, a joint venture between COBRA Instalaciones y Servicios and SENER, is the general contractor responsible for delivering the terminal as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor.

The terminal includes two LNG tanks, each with a capacity of 165,000 cubic meters. Once operational, the project will have the capacity to send 10 billion cubic meters of gas into Germany’s national grid every year.

The project, which is built around infrastructure for LNG, bio-LNG, and synthetic natural gas (SNG), is also designed to enable the transition to even lower-carbon fuel alternatives, such as hydrogen, in the future.

The contract award follows a similar deal for the Hanseatic Energy Hub in Stade, where Nikkiso CE&IG is supplying 20 low-pressure and nine high-pressure pumps for the European country’s largest land-based terminal for liquefied gases.

“Both Nikkiso CE&IG’s presence and our contribution to major energy transition projects in Europe continues to grow,” added Skatka-Jensen.

“We have expertise in providing equipment and servicing support for not just LNG but also hydrogen and ammonia, and we are proud to be part of such an important project for Germany and Europe’s move to these lower-carbon fuels.”
