Subsea7 has won a contract with LLOG Exploration, a subsidiary of Harbour Energy, worth between $50 million and $150 million for the Who Dat East development located in the Gulf of America (U.S. Gulf of Mexico).
Under the contract that Subsea7 defines as sizeable, the company will fabricate, transport and install a 29-kilometer steel catenary riser and pipe-in-pipe to the Who Dat floating production system (FPS), as well as install umbilical and subsea controls.
The Who Dat East development is located in lease MC 509-1, at a water depth of approximately 1,300 meters. The project is a one-well development comprising the completion of the 2024 Who Dat East discovery well, the construction of a 29-kilometer pipeline to the Who Dat FPS, installation of subsea controls, and minor upgrades to the FPS.
Following a minor riser leak at Who Dat in February 2026, the joint venture (JV) comprising LLOG (operator, 40%), Karoon (40%), and Westlawn (20%) kept progressing a structured remediation plan, with the removal and analysis of the riser planned to start in the third quarter of 2026.
Subsea7 will begin project management and engineering immediately at its office in Houston, Texas, with offshore activities expected to start in 2028.
First production is expected in the second half of 2028, at an initial gross production rate of approximately 6,500 bopd of liquids and 50 million scf/d of gas.
