Prakhar Khanna/ZDNETFollow ZDNET: Add us as a preferred source on Google. At Samsung Unpacked 2026, Samsung introduced its newest Galaxy foldable phones: the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8. They’re both foldable smartphones, but they’re more different than you’d think. The Z Flip 8 is a flip phone (like from 20 years ago, but with a cover screen), whereas the Z Fold 8 is a book-style foldable phone with a rather unique passport-sized form factor. Also: Samsung Galaxy vs. Google Pixel: I’ve used both brands extensively, and this one’s betterWhen fully spread out, the Z Fold 8 looks like a 7.6-inch tablet…
Traders spent most of July with a pretty good explanation for why Bitcoin wouldn’t move. A dense cluster of options contracts had the price boxed in, they argued, because the dealers who sold those contracts were buying every dip and selling every rally to keep their own books balanced. Clear the contracts away, and Bitcoin would finally be free to go somewhere. The contracts have now cleared on two consecutive Fridays, and Bitcoin is sitting roughly where it started. It traded just under $64,000 on Saturday, closing out a week in which it failed to hold $66,000 and then slid back…

Democrats in Maine have reset a Senate race seen as critical to their party’s chances of retaking the chamber after an improvised scramble to swap out a damaged candidate, Graham Platner, for a new one, Troy Jackson, after a wild 17 days. Now comes the tricky part.Mr. Jackson, a former State Senate president, is trying to keep alive the grass-roots energy that Mr. Platner built over the past year while distancing himself from the former nominee’s personal history. With help from her allies, Senator Susan Collins, the five-term Republican he is trying to defeat, is seeking to tie the two Democrats…
Britain’s foreign secretary, Ed Miliband, is to indicate he will put the climate crisis and overseas development at the heart of UK international relations by taking up the country’s seat on the board at the World Bank. The position, which is usually delegated to a junior minister, means Miliband will play an active role in shaping the changes to the World Bank that developing countries have called for, and ensuring the climate remains a core focus for overseas aid.Miliband, who was energy and net zero secretary under Keir Starmer, will say: “International development is not an add-on to British foreign policy…

Tesla kicked off earnings season — at least for this sector — and the shareholder letter, along with Elon Musk’s remarks during the conference call, provided some pretty incredible disclosures I imagine have some investors concerned, or at least puzzled. Tesla has backed off previous promises to reach “volume production” of the Cybercab, Tesla Semi, and Megapack 3 in 2026.…
KULR Technology Group, a US-listed battery technology company, and The Smarter Web Company, a UK-listed web services group with a Bitcoin treasury strategy, have sold approximately 511 BTC and used the proceeds to retire approximately $31.7 million of obligations in disclosures published one day apart. The total comprises $20 million of KULR principal and Smarter Web’s exact $11,698,540 repayment. Both companies acted voluntarily and retained substantial Bitcoin reserves; neither disclosure described a lender-forced liquidation. The shared consequence is that financing can turn assets presented as long-term holdings into repayment inventory without ending a treasury strategy.KULR’s July 24 filing said it sold…
