Singapore-based builder OceanSTAR Elite Group and oil and gas engineering solutions provider Promor have confirmed the sail-away of the FSO PTSC Lac Da Vang (FSO PTSC LDV) from Tongzhou Bay, Nantong, Jiangsu, for its journey to the designated Lac Da Vang project in Block 15-1/05 offshore Vietnam, under the transportation arrangements of the client, PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation (PTSC).

The contract for the provision, charter, operation, and maintenance of the FSO was given to PTSC Asia Pacific, a joint venture between Yinson Production and PTSC, in December 2024. The FSO’s departure comes a month after Yinson Production celebrated the naming of the unit on June 23, 2026.

Promor emphasized: “Seeing the FSO PTSC LDV depart is a rewarding reminder that successful offshore projects are built on months of engineering, meticulous planning, quality fabrication, and outstanding teamwork. From concept through to completion, this project reflects the dedication, expertise, and collaboration of countless people across multiple disciplines.

“It has been a privilege to contribute to another offshore mooring project and to work alongside such a talented team. Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing the FSO PTSC LDV to this significant milestone. Wishing the vessel, crew, and project team a safe sail-away and every success as the FSO PTSC LDV begins its offshore operations.”

After construction began in February 2025, the project team achieved a series of key milestones over a 16-month execution period, including first steel cutting, keel laying, hull construction, major lifting operations, vessel launching, system commissioning and delivery preparation.

OceanSTAR Elite Group highlighted: “Throughout the construction period, the project recorded more than 1.6 million safe working hours without a lost-time incident. The 16-month delivery period demonstrated the project team’s strong execution capabilities across engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and overall project management.

“The successful delivery of the project was made possible through the trust, support and close collaboration of Murphy Cuu Long Bac Oil Co., Ltd. (MCB), PTSC, the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), Titan Wind Offshore and all project partners. From first steel cutting to quayside delivery, the FSO PTSC LDV completed its journey from blueprint to reality in just 16 months.”

Murphy Oil is the operator of Block 15-1/05 of the Cuu Long Basin with a 40% working interest, while its partners, PetroVietnam Exploration Production and SK Earthon, hold the remaining 35% and 25%, respectively. The FSO features a storage capacity of 460,000 barrels and is designed to enhance operational efficiency while supporting sustainable offshore oilfield operations.

The Lac Da Vang field contains an estimated ultimate recovery of 100 million barrels of oil equivalent (mmboe) gross resources, with peak gross production of 30 to 40 mboepd and 10–15 mboepd net peak production.
