Spanish GONDAN Shipbuilders has launched a 120-meter-long ocean energy support vessel (OESV), the largest-ever vessel built by the shipyard, for Norway’s shipowner Østensjø Rederi.

The C513 OESV was launched on September 10 at GONDAN’s Figueras facility and is the 23rd vessel the Spanish shipyard built for Østensjø Rederi.

The vessel will now undergo the final phase of outfitting at sea and subsequent sea trials in the coming months, in preparation for the scheduled delivery in late 2027.

Designed by Norwegian Salt Ship Design, the vessel is equipped for walk-to-work (W2W) operations, support for CSOV wind energy operations, offshore construction, subsea installations, inspection operations using remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), and cable laying and repair.

It features a diesel-electric system featuring six variable-speed main engines and PM Brunvoll azimuth thrusters and advanced decarbonization solutions, including battery systems, shore power and the fuel-ready notation, which will allow it to operate in the future with clean fuels such as methanol (MeOH).

The OESV has 1,400 m2 of open deck space, including the hangar, and accommodation for up to 173 people.
