Norwegian marine geoscience and technology company Shearwater GeoServices is set to acquire 3D seismic data over recently awarded and prospective open acreage in the Norwegian Sea by deploying a high-capacity seismic vessel for an approximately seven-week campaign this month.

Shearwater Geoservices has won a new 3D multi-client seismic survey in the Norwegian Sea, which has industry support. The data acquisition is expected to begin in August 2026.

The 2015-built, 126-meter Amazon Conqueror seismic vessel, equipped with 227 kilometers of multi-component Isometrix streamer, will be deployed for the survey, which is expected to take around seven weeks.

The company has emphasized that it will utilize its Isometrix streamer technology to acquire high-quality seismic data across the project area on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS).

Irene Waage Basili, CEO of Shearwater, commented: “This project targets recently awarded and prospective open acreage, marking our multi-client expansion into the Norwegian continental shelf and adds high-quality backlog for our fleet.”

The confirmation of the Norwegian job comes shortly after Shearwater GeoServices secured two letters of award (LOAs) from India’s government-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) for 3D seismic surveys offshore India.
