The company brings engineering, specialist personnel, equipment and port infrastructure together under one operating model for complex marine and industrial projects.

    www.futura1994.it

Established in 1994 and employing around 100 people, Futura develops and delivers technology-driven solutions and services for complex industrial and maritime projects.

Over more than three decades, the company has built specialist technical, management and operational capabilities, backed by continuous training and investment in technology and innovation.

Its central proposition is integration: engineering, qualified personnel, vessels and vehicles, specialist equipment and company-owned infrastructure are coordinated within a single workflow.

One partner across multiple work scopes

Rather than supplying isolated services, Futura coordinates multiple activities within the same project. This gives clients a single point of contact for multidisciplinary scopes and allows work packages to run in parallel.

According to the company, the model can shorten execution and vessel turnaround times, reduce downtime, improve cost control and support a faster response when project conditions change.

    Core capabilities

    • Industrial steel fabrication and installation of structures, equipment and systems
    • Transport, handling, storage and installation of subsea and land cables
    • Engineering and onboard vessel work
    • Design and construction of cable carousels, static platforms and cable tanks
    • Cable handling, installation, recovery and replacement
    • Scheduled and extraordinary maintenance, including emergency response
    • Flexibility and responsiveness

    Gaeta Mediterranean Offshore Cable Hub

At the commercial port of Gaeta, Futura operates a company-owned hub for materials, equipment and cables serving the energy and telecommunications sectors. The company also has its own storage area at the port of Pozzuoli.

The Gaeta hub includes two 12,000-ton cable carousels, one 7,000-ton cable carousel, one additional 2 ,000- ton carousel under construction, available to rent, and two spare-cable platforms.

With dedicated infrastructure, equipment and specialist personnel, Futura can manage cable and equipment reception, handling, storage and preparation in-house, with a focus on operational efficiency, safety and flexibility.

Futura is authorised as a port operator under Article 16 of Italy’s Law 84/94 and also operates under Article 18, 68 of the same legislation.

    Cable handling and specialist equipment

Futura designs and builds cable carousels, static cable platforms and cable tanks for safe and efficient coiling and storage operations. Its carousels can accommodate up to 12,000 tonnes, while static platforms can be engineered without a stated capacity limit.

The company also manages international transport, installation, commissioning and maintenance all over the world. With 3 cable spoolers machines capable of operating at tensions of up to 20 tonnes and handling loads of up to 60 tonnes, and quadrant e tensioners up to 15 tons to handle every type of cable.

The equipment can be deployed for winch and crane ropes, umbilicals, fibre-optic cable reels and power cables.

    Engineering and vessel services

Futura carries out onboard works, including emergency scopes and projects with tight delivery windows. Services range from new-system installation to maintenance, repair, modification and upgrades of existing systems and components.

The company can also temporarily set up general cargo vessels for cable transport. Its scope extends from vessel selection and chartering to the installation of cable tanks, carousels and dedicated handling systems, followed by operational mobilisation.

    From engineering to operations

Futura coordinates design, handling, storage, transport, installation and maintenance as one operating process. Deploying expertise, people, equipment and infrastructure at the same time allows activities to proceed in parallel, helping reduce execution time and minimise vessel downtime.

For clients, the company says this can simplify project management, shorten schedules, improve operational efficiency and provide more direct control over costs.

With around 120 employees and more than 20 years of experience, COMEP provides integrated electrical, electronic and cable services for energy, telecommunications and rail projects.

    www.comepsrl.net

COMEP has developed experience in managing complex projects in Italy and internationally, building a specialist knowledge base for industrial settings with demanding technical and organisational requirements.

The company deploys qualified personnel, technical expertise and operational capacity across offshore and onshore environments. Its scope ranges from power and telecommunications cable services to the production, installation and maintenance of electrical and electronic systems.

    Energy and telecommunications

COMEP supplies specialist personnel and technical services for land and subsea power and fibre-optic cables. Staff receive ongoing technical training through the company’s internal academy, which is also used during the start-up and mobilisation of operational teams.

The main areas of expertise include:

    • Low, medium and high-voltage power cable helper for jointing, testing and terminations
    • Jointing and optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR) testing on land and subsea fibre-optic cables
    • Supervision of subsea cable installation and protection operations (Client Representative)
    • Fibre-optic and power cable fault location
    • Tone injection experts for the operations of the cable protection

These capabilities allow COMEP to support technically complex scopes governed by stringent safety and quality requirements.

    Subsea and fibre-optic cable jointing

One of COMEP’s core strengths is its pool of specialists certified to work onboard vessels and offshore platforms and qualified to joint a range of land and subsea cables.

The company performs subsea fibre-optic joints for both shallow- and deep-water applications across three cable configurations: stand-alone subsea fibre-optic cables; three-phase systems in which optical elements branch through a three-core power cable; and embedded optical elements integrated with the power cable and its metallic armour.

COMEP reports an international track record projects that you can find on www.comepsrl.net.

    Power cable helpers

COMEP’s helpers work on low, medium and high-voltage cables in line with client procedures and technical specifications. Training is delivered through the internal academy and client training schools to keep technical and operational skills current.

The company’s jointing helpers scope covers unarmoured land power cables, with dedicated joint-protection solutions; steel-armoured subsea power cables handled offshore onboard vessels or platforms; and factory or diameter joints that rebuild the cable’s original diameter, insulation layers and construction characteristics.

    Testing, measurement and diagnostics

COMEP complements its jointing and installation services with cable testing and diagnostics to verify system performance and integrity.

    • Measurement of individual fibre attenuation along the full cable length
    • Inspection of cable ends before jointing
    • Continuity and attenuation checks for each splice
    • Fibre-integrity monitoring during offshore and onshore installation (Viavi Live Testing or Fiber Guardian)
    • All personnel Bosiet Opito and GWO certified

Its diagnostic and electrical test equipment includes the Megger MIT1525, BAUR 4000, BAUR 2000 and Teleflex VX-PT V2 for insulation measurement, fault location and analysis of cable electrical characteristics.

    Client representation and site management

COMEP provides client representatives for onshore and offshore projects. Acting as the project manager’s operational point of contact at site, they coordinate, supervise and monitor ongoing activities.

    • Cable laying: supervision of marine and land installation of power and fibre-optic cables
    • Cable loading: management of loading into static or rotating tanks in port or onboard vessels, including vessel-to-vessel cable transfers
    • Cable termination: management of connections at offshore wind and oil and gas facilities
    • Site management: organisation of the worksite and activities required for final line certification

    Rail and light-rail services

In the rail sector, COMEP supports projects from system production and wiring to integration, commissioning and final vehicle testing.

    • Assembly and wiring of low, medium and high-voltage switchboards
    • Insulation, dielectric-strength, continuity and functional testing
    • Cable-harness cutting and wiring and low-voltage electronic connector wiring
    • Maintenance, overhaul and testing of electrical and electronic switchboards on rolling stock
    • Onboard switchboard installation, electrical works and general vehicle wiring
