Did Trump post AI image of himself with Gandhi, JFK and Jesus lookalike?

    Claim:

A screenshot authentically shows a July 2026 post by U.S. President Donald Trump in which he shared an artificial intelligence-generated image of himself standing in front of the White House with Mahatma Gandhi, former President John F. Kennedy and a person dressed like Jesus Christ.

    Rating:

    Context

Trump posted a similar image on July 26, 2026, that showed him standing in front of the White House next to Kennedy.

A rumor spread in July 2026 that a screenshot displayed a real Truth Social post by U.S. President Donald Trump in which he shared an artificial intelligence-generated image of him next to several prominent figures. The image featured Trump, Mahatma Gandhi, former President John F. Kennedy and a person dressed like Jesus Christ — who some claimed resembled actor Jared Leto — standing in front of the White House.

For example, an X user shared the screenshot of the alleged post on July 28 (archived), asking, “HOW CAN THIS NOT BE THE END OF THE TRUMP FREAKSHOW”:

The image circulated in the days that followed a real Truth Social post (archived) by Trump in which he shared an AI-generated image of himself standing with Kennedy, who was assassinated in 1963.

Some users seemed to interpret the screenshot of the purported post in which he appears with the late president, Gandhi and the Jesus lookalike as authentic. Snopes readers contacted us to verify whether the screenshot was real. It was not.

To investigate the image’s authenticity, we first used search engines such as DuckDuckGo, Google and Yahoo. If Trump had truly shared such a post, journalists with reputable news outlets, such as The Associated Press or Reuters, would have widely reported on it, and those search inquiries would have uncovered such evidence. That was not the case.

The earliest post sharing the fake screenshot that we identified originated from an X account with a history of posting outlandish and humorous claims about U.S. politics.

The account, named Gary Peterson, shared the image on July 27, the day after Trump’s Truth Social post that included the AI-generated image of him and Kennedy (archived). The image of Trump with Gandhi, Kennedy and the Christ-like figure appeared to be AI-generated, too, though we were unable to confirm which tools were used to create it. Since sharing the image, the X account has posted numerous AI-generated images, including one that showed Trump in shorts and a tight T-shirt seemingly teaching Santa Claus how to ride a bicycle.

We reached out to the account for its response to the fact that some people mistook the fake screenshot as authentic. We will update this story if we receive a response.

Snopes has debunked several fake posts attributed to Trump in the past, including a fabricated screenshot purportedly showing a post where he asked why no one had thought to plug volcanoes with cement.
