This week, WIRED obtained a memo that tied dozens of cyberattacks against Minnesota water and wastewater utilities to Iran, the first official documentation of Iran’s likely responsibility for the most impactful campaign of cyberattacks to hit the US in the midst of the war that began nearly six months ago.In other news, more details have emerged about OpenAI’s “rogue” AI agent breach of Hugging Face’s platform. OpenAI disclosed that the AI agent hacked multiple third-party accounts and services as it sought to breach Hugging Face’s production database, which contained solutions for the cybersecurity tests OpenAI was evaluating the agent with.Anthropic,…
Every step of that runs on the attacker’s machine. The victim’s device is not involved at any point and could be powered off in a safe on another continent.Galaxy’s breakdown shows the process running. Of the drained wallets, 1,183 used the modern native segwit address format, seven used an older standard and six an older one still. Nobody targets a specific victim across three address formats at once. That is systematic enumeration, checking each candidate seed against every path it might have produced. The operator can widen the search, refine it and return whenever they choose. Galaxy warned further waves…
Scientists have identified a heat-driven process inside magma that could help explain why volcanoes with similar characteristics sometimes erupt in very different ways. An international research team led by The University of Manchester analyzed magma from the 2021 Tajogaite eruption on La Palma, Spain. The scientists found that “superheating,” which occurs when magma becomes hotter than the temperature at which crystals remain stable, can postpone crystal formation as the magma moves toward the surface. Superheating Removes Crystal Seeds The study, published in Nature Communications, found that intense heat can dissolve tiny existing crystals that normally act as “seeds” for the…
Claim: Several U.S. Senate Republicans reportedly suffered from diarrhea in July 2026 after filming themselves eating salads to troll Dr. Anthony Fauci after he criticized the party for food regulation cuts. NETGEAR/ZDNETFollow ZDNET: Add us as a preferred source on Google.ZDNET’s key takeaways The Netgear Orbi 370 router has some of the best signal strength we’ve ever tested in low D&I bands. Its coverage area rivals router competitors from Eero, TP-Link, and others. Performance is subjective to distance and interference. For those who work remotely, a reliable Wi-Fi router is essential for maintaining a solid connection not only for video calls, but for streaming movies and games after work. In brief AI agents can already recommend a product or plan a task, but most still can’t pay for one—the gap in the emerging “agentic economy” needs new payment infrastructure to close. XDC Network’s XDC AI product pairs the open x402 standard with “gasless” USDC settlement to let AI agents pay for services per request, without accounts or human sign-off. XDC demonstrated the marketplace at a New York event that co-founder Atul Khekade said drew more than 100 industry representatives. Today’s AI assistants can plan your trip, draft your emails, and find you a coffee shop down the street. What…
Sodium ion batteries could offer a more sustainable way to store large amounts of energy, and new research suggests they may eventually serve another valuable purpose: helping remove salt from seawater. Scientists at the University of Surrey have found that a sodium-based battery material performs much better when its natural water content is left in place. Battery researchers often remove this water because moisture is commonly viewed as harmful to battery materials. In this case, however, keeping it produced a dramatic improvement. A More Abundant Alternative to Lithium Lithium-ion batteries currently power most smartphones, laptops, electric vehicles, and many large…

However, there was no evidence that’s true. In July 2026, a claim (archived) circulated online that families of 9/11 victims gathered signatures for a petition to exclude New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani from the 25th-anniversary commemoration ceremony of the…
