Is image of Natalie Harp carrying ‘diaper bag’ for Trump real? Don’t be fooled

In July 2026, social media users shared an image (archived) that they claimed shows U.S. President Donald Trump’s aide Natalie Harp carrying a bag full of adult diapers for the president.

The image appeared to show Harp walking toward the camera while holding a black handbag that contained several white items. A man in a military uniform walked slightly behind Harp and carried a briefcase that appeared to be attached to her handbag via a cable.

One X user who shared the image wrote, “Donald Trumps aide aka nurse carrying around a diaper bag full of depends. Theyre not even trying to hide it anymore.”

The image also circulated on Facebook (archived), Reddit (archived), Threads (archived) and Bluesky (archived).

However, the image of Harp carrying the handbag containing unidentified white objects was digitally altered. As such, we’ve rated it fake.

A photographer from the UK tabloid newspaper the Daily Mail took the original photo on April 16, 2024. The unaltered photo showed Harp beside Margo Martin, another Trump adviser. In the authentic photo, Martin, not Harp, held the black handbag with the white objects inside. It was unclear what was inside Martin’s bag.

We contacted the White House Press Office to ask what was in Martin’s bag in the Daily Mail photo and await a reply.

It was unclear who altered the image of Martin and Harp and why. We contacted the Occupy Democrats Facebook account, which posted an early version of the altered image, to ask for its source and await a reply.

The fake image displayed clear signs of digital editing, including the insertion of a man in a military uniform who was not present in the original 2024 photo. Harp’s left hand holding the handbag was also visibly disfigured where an editor or artificial intelligence tool had attempted to make it look like she was carrying Martin’s bag. As of this writing, we were unable to confirm whether someone had used AI technology or another digital editing tool to alter the image.  

According to the Daily Mail, photographer Curtis Means took the authentic 2024 photo at Manhattan Criminal Court on the second day of Trump’s “hush money” trial. A jury ultimately found him guilty of 34 charges in a scheme to illegally influence the 2016 election through payments to adult film actor Stormy Daniels. Despite the felony convictions, Trump received an unconditional discharge sentence, which essentially meant a judge chose to impose no further punishment.

This isn’t the first time Snopes has fact-checked a claim about Harp. In early July 2026, we debunked a baseless rumor that she was secretly working as Trump’s hospice nurse. Harp’s publicly known closeness with Trump has also prompted unfounded claims that the two were engaging in an affair. 

Trump biographer and journalist Michael Wolff has described Harp as the president’s “closest confidant” who is known to pass him personal notes. She reportedly earned the nickname “the human printer” due to reports that she has printed news items for Trump that paint him in a favorable light.
