In August 2026, the White House’s official Instagram account shared Spider-Man-inspired graphics showing immigrants trapped in webs next to a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent.
In early August 2026, a rumor spread online that the White House posted Spider-Man-inspired graphics on Instagram that promoted immigration deportations.
“The official White House Instagram is now posting Spider-Man-style ICE propaganda showing immigrants literally trapped in webs before being deported,” said one X user, who also shared the alleged images.
The claim also spread on platforms like Facebook (screenshotted), Instagram (screenshotted) and Threads.
The official White House Instagram did, in fact, post (archived) an image of a hand in an apparent Spider-Man suit shooting a web, alongside an image of handcuffed immigrants trapped in webs next to an ICE agent.
“Criminal Illegal Aliens Will Be Caught and Deported,” the graphic with people caught in webs said.
As such, we have rated this claim as true.
The White House captioned the August 6 Instagram post with a reference to Spider-Man’s
“Your friendly neighborhood ICE agents,” the post read.
As of this writing, the White House Facebook and X pages did not have the same Spider-Man graphics on them.
The White House posted these images shortly after the movie “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” released in theaters on July 31, 2026.
