A screenshot authentically displays a Truth Social post made by U.S. President Donald Trump following the 2026 midterm elections, saying in part, “You failed me. There’s consequences since you are an enemy of the greatest president to ever live.”
As the results of the 2026 U.S. midterm elections rolled in, President Donald Trump — known for his frequent and brash social media posts — remained relatively muted, attributing the Democratic Party’s sweeping victories to the fact that he himself wasn’t on voters’ ballots.
“I wasn’t on the Ballot and if I was, we would have won IN A LANDSLIDE! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP,” he posted to Truth Social, his social media platform, on election night.
But according to alleged screenshots some users shared on social media, Trump posted again later, ranting about how the voters had “failed” him and that there would be consequences to face as a result.

The full text of Trump’s supposed post read as follows:
THIS IS YOUR PRESIDENT SPEAKING. You read that right. YOUR PRESIDENT.
But since the woke mind doesn’t want that, there’s gonna be some changes around here. You failed me. There’s consequences since you are an enemy of the greatest president to ever live.
American Crypto? Cancelled.

Hope you like cancel culture. It seems like the liberal IDIOTS do. Why would you disrespect the greatest man to ever live. My son Barron came to my room upset. He is scared because he is a white man. Every white man should be scared. God bless some of you. PRESIDENT DONALD J FREEDOM TRUMP
Snopes readers asked us to investigate the legitimacy of the images being shared.
We found the supposed screenshots were fake.
Although the profile photo and handle matched Trump’s real Truth Social account, the screenshot cut out the timestamp and engagement metrics. While legitimate screenshots of Truth Social posts do sometimes leave out that information (here’s an example from an official Trump campaign account), omitting it for no apparent reason makes the post more difficult to verify. As a result we needed to look for additional information.
Searching Trump’s Truth Social account turned up no results. We also checked multiple websites that archive the president’s posts, even if they are deleted. Nothing matched there, either, confirming he never made such a post.
Additionally, Snopes frequently checks claims about fake Truth Social posts from the president, and as a result, we are very familiar with the his written voice — and we can check his word usage against archives of his real posts. While this fake post makes some effort to mimic his tone, it falls flat in a few spots. For example, Trump has not used the word “gonna” in a single post in 2026, while he has written “going to” dozens of times.
For further reading, we also fact-checked whether an image truly showed Trump fainting in response to the midterm results.
