The official confirmed to Federal News Network that the FBI is investigating a North Korean working for an unnamed federal agency. It’s unclear how the North Korean was hired, but the regime is known for its coordinated and long-running campaigns aimed at fraudulently obtaining employment at private organizations and multinationals. The case marks a rare…
A malicious SIM card can order the device it sits in to run commands of the attacker’s choosing. On the cellular modules built into electric-vehicle chargers, industrial routers, and car telematics units, that is enough to take the whole device over. Researchers at the University of Birmingham and the security firm Fuzzware tested 26 phones and cellular modules for the capability, found it switched on in 9 of them, and used it to run their own code on a commercial EV charger. Six of the eight cellular modules they tested accepted the command. Only 3 of 18 phones did: the…
Investment bank TD Securities has said that the long-awaited crypto Clarity Act has a slim chance of getting passed in a Monday note, citing last week’s delay and potential stalling from the Democrats. The bank said that now the bill won’t be passed before the summer, it only has a 25% of getting passed in September. Lawmakers were hoping a crucial vote on the long-awaited crypto market structure bill was to go ahead before a five-week recess but news dropped last week that there was a delay and now the Senate will vote on the bill in September. “The bill…
Scientists examining data from the Cassini-Huygens mission have identified an unexpected feature in the structure of Saturn’s protective magnetic bubble. The finding supports the idea that giant planets such as Saturn have magnetospheres that behave very differently from Earth’s. The research, published in Nature Communications, includes Dr. Licia Ray and Dr. Sarah Badman of Lancaster University, along with Dr. Chris Arridge, formerly of Lancaster. Cassini was designed to investigate Saturn and the wider Saturn system, including its rings, natural satellites and surrounding space environment. The mission was a collaboration involving NASA, the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Italian space…

At the end of July, the Trump administration claimed that Hamas had accepted a roadmap toward disarming. It looks highly unlikely that either Israel or Hamas will deliver on the alleged terms. The apparent flexibility shown by Hamas is likely a delaying tactic to ensure its long-term political survival, since the organization’s officials have already made it clear that it will not give up its arms before every soldier from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has left the Gaza Strip. The so-called Gaza roadmap has little chance in succeeding because of a classic catch-22: Israel will not withdraw fully from…

The State Department said on Monday that under the Trump administration it had revoked more than 175,000 visas from foreign citizens whom it accused of committing crimes and endangering the safety of Americans. Most of the visas were rescinded over a variety of criminal accusations, including drug offenses, driving under the influence, assault, sexual assault, child abuse and fraud, the department said in a news release.
