Russian strikes on Ukraine’s eastern Dnipro region on Saturday night left four people dead and 22 injured, authorities have announced, with a separate attack on Vinnytsia in west-central Ukraine injuring another six people.

Oleksandr Hanzha, the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Military Administration, said Russian forces had targeted the Dnipro area with drones and aerial bombs, striking three districts more than 20 times.

The attacks damaged infrastructure in Dnipro city and destroyed private homes, apartment buildings, stores and cars in the Synelnykivskyi district, he said. A private home was also damaged in the Nikopol district, he added.

In a post on social media, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said a Russian drone had also hit a high-rise apartment building in Vinnytsia, while a hypermarket had been targeted in Kharkiv in the northeast of the country.

“In Kharkiv, the Russians first struck a home improvement hypermarket and then carried out a cynical double-tap strike on the emergency services that arrived at the scene,” he wrote, adding that an unspecified number of emergency responders had been injured.

The Ukrainian leader also reported overnight strikes on Ukrainian energy facilities, including a thermal power plant and substations.

According to Zelenskyy, Russia has launched roughly 1,600 guided aerial bombs, 48 missiles and nearly 2,300 attack drones against Ukraine over the past week.

Ukrainian forces hit back on Saturday and overnight with their own strikes against Russian targets, including army radar stations, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.

Ukraine’s military also struck command posts as well as Russian “personnel concentrations,” per the General Staff.

“Striking radars creates gaps in the enemy’s radar coverage and expands the Defence Forces of Ukraine’s ability to employ unmanned systems at all levels,” it said.

    Starlink access restored

It comes after Kyiv announced on Saturday that its forces had re-established a “stable” connection to Elon Musk’s Starlink network amid a dispute with the US.

“The speeds are now where they need to be. The restoration began overnight, and by this morning, speeds were already sufficient,” Zelenskyy said. “This matters: for our frontline logistics, for defending Ukraine against jet-powered ‘shaheds.'”

Starlink, and its military version Starshield, have proved crucial to the Ukrainian military’s operations as it has continued to battle Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invading forces, providing resilient internet and communications over the battlefield.
