France’s engineering player Technip Energies has been hired to provide detailed engineering services for a major offshore gas project being developed by ADNOC Offshore, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), adding to the French player’s growing role in the region’s complex energy developments.

Technip Energies has been awarded a significant contract, representing between €50 million and €250 million of revenue, by Larsen & Toubro Energy Hydrocarbon (LTEH) to provide detailed engineering services for an undisclosed project, which the firm describes as ADNOC Offshore’s major project in the UAE.

The operator recently selected a consortium led by LTEH to help bring this project to life, covering the engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) of new offshore facilities, together with modifications and upgrades to existing infrastructure.

Under the assignment, which strengthens Technip Energies’ position in high-end engineering services, the company will draw on its strong local engineering capabilities and extensive experience with complex, large-scale offshore projects in the Middle East.

The award also builds on the long-standing collaboration between the French firm and Larsen & Toubro (L&T) across a broad range of upstream, downstream and energy infrastructure projects worldwide.

Loïc Chapuis, President of Project Delivery and Services at Technip Energies, commented: “We are pleased to have been selected by L&T to support this major offshore development for ADNOC Offshore.

“This award reflects the trust placed in our engineering excellence and our proven track record in delivering complex offshore projects. Together with L&T, we look forward to contributing to ADNOC’s strategic objectives and the UAE’s energy ambitions.”

While announcing its EPCIC award in the Middle East, LTEH Offshore explained that a significant portion of the fabrication activities will be carried out at L&T’s integrated manufacturing and fabrication facilities.

Parthasarathi Chatterjee, Senior Vice President & Head – L&T Energy Hydrocarbon Offshore, said: “With multiple offshore facilities, subsea infrastructure and substantial fabrication requirements, this project exemplifies the scale and complexity of offshore developments that LTEH Offshore is uniquely positioned to deliver.

“Our integrated EPCIC approach, supported by world-class engineering, fabrication and marine capabilities, enables us to execute such projects with certainty, efficiency and a strong focus on safety and quality.”

ADNOC is actively working on bringing new projects online, as illustrated by the recent $6.2 billion (AED22.6 billion) final investment decision (FID) for the Umm Shaif Integrated Gas Cap and Surface Pressure Boosting (SPB) project.

McDermott was picked to handle the EPCI scope assignment, worth more than $1 billion, for the project designed to maximize gas recovery and increase output.
