Video allegedly showing zombie attack in Atlanta nightclub is fake. Here’s how we know

In July 2026, social media users shared a 10-second video purportedly showing a zombie waiting in a doorway before attacking partygoers inside an Atlanta nightclub.

For example, on July 13, a TikTok user posted the alleged footage (archived) with the onscreen caption, “Just Happened In a Atlanta Night Club.” Others shared the clip on Facebook, Instagram and elsewhere on TikTok.

One person posted the video on their Facebook, Instagram and TikTok accounts, alongside other purported zombie footage. That user specifically mentioned that the supposed incident occurred at an Atlanta nightclub named Club 112.

Some commenters appeared to show more interest in finding the source of the alleged footage rather than discussing whether the scenario truly played out in reality. One Instagram commenter received hundreds of likes after claiming the clip originated from a zombie-themed escape room. Others alleged that people staged the scene for a sketch or that a person used an artificial intelligence tool to generate the recording.

In short, those who thought the latter are correct. Someone did use AI to create the fake video.

Via Messenger, a user managing the Go Viral AI Facebook page (archived) confirmed they created the video with OpenAI’s Sora text-to-video AI tool.

Researching the video

A reverse image search confirmed a user managing the Go Viral AI Facebook page first posted the original video (archived) on July 10. The caption does not mention Atlanta. It reads, “Imagine partying and having fun then you see this….” A manager of the page set the alleged location of the video as Los Angeles.

One sign the footage is fake is that the audio of the zombie growling sounds much clearer than it should have done if the recording were authentic, given the distance between the monster and the phone. Another sign is that the limbs of people fleeing in fear appear contorted at the end of the clip.

According to Go Viral AI’s “page transparency” information, a user from Indonesia manages the account. The page hosts numerous short videos lasting eight, 10 or 15 seconds, all common durations for AI-generated clips.

Club 112 rumor

The user mentioning Club 112 in a video on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok revealed at the very end that the zombie clip originated from an account that shared AI-generated content.

In October 2007, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution newspaper reported that a club of that name closed following fatal shootings in June that year. It has not reopened, as of this writing.

Aside from the fake nightclub video, that user’s additional zombie footage appeared to originate from Zombie Infection, a U.K.-based business offering immersive experiences with actors dressed as zombies.
