Spur Raises $200 Million for IP Intelligence Platform

IP intelligence and bot detection company Spur Intelligence announced it has received a $200 million investment from Insight Partners.

Founded in 2017 and operating fully bootstrapped for nine years, Spur will use the fresh funding to accelerate and scale its operations.

The US-based firm provides real-time intelligence to help organizations gain visibility into anonymized, proxied, and obfuscated web traffic to reduce fraud and enforce compliance.

As threat actors increasingly use VPNs, residential proxies, mobile gateways, bot networks, and anonymized services to bypass fraud and security controls, Spur enables organizations to identify intentionally obscured network connections.

The company has developed detection capabilities based on the continuous observation and analysis of real-world network behavior on anonymized infrastructure.

Additionally, it delivers IP intelligence through data feeds, APIs, session enrichment, and integrations with analytics, authentication, compliance, fraud scoring, and threat detection systems.

“We’re in the middle of a massive shift in fraud prevention. As sophisticated criminal VPNs, residential proxy networks, and anonymization infrastructure proliferate, organizations are increasingly operating with a critical blind spot: they can see the activity, but not the infrastructure behind it,” said Insight Partners managing director Thomas Krane.

“Spur is uniquely positioned to solve that problem. The company has built one of the most comprehensive and actionable intelligence layers for understanding the true origin of internet traffic, giving security and fraud teams the visibility they need to make faster, more confident decisions,” Krane added.
