French provider of tubular solutions Vallourec has secured a new contract for the Atapu-2 project in the Santos Basin offshore Brazil, this time with Allseas for the supply of carbon steel seamless line pipes and thermal insulation coating.
Allseas is in charge of the design, procurement, construction and installation of a riser-based subsea system for the ultra-deepwater Atapu 2 pre-salt field development, located 230 kilometers offshore Rio de Janeiro, at water depths ranging from 2,000 to 2,350 meters.
The company’s 327-meter-long pipelay vessel Audacia will be deployed for the work set to start in in Q1 2029.
Vallourec has been awarded a contract for the supply of 143 kilometers of rigid risers and flowlines, representing approximately 19,000 tons of bare line pipe.
The seamless line pipes will be produced in Vallourec’s Jeceaba mill, while the associated thermal insulation coating will be carried out in Serra.
This builds on the contract for Atapu-2 which the French firm was awarded in 2024 by Petrobras for the supply of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) and accessories.
The production system of the Atapu-2 field will be composed of 18 wells directly connected to the floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) through rigid risers.
