South Korea’s Taihan Cable & Solution has named its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), revealing plans for the expansion of the company’s presence in the U.S. and Europe.
Taihan announced on October 21 that Joonseok Kim had assumed his role as President and CEO, following his appointment by the Board of Directors.
Kim previously worked at Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) before joining Hoban Group in 2010. He has contributed to the group’s major mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and business diversification initiatives, including leading its acquisition of Taihan in 2021.
Since 2023, Kim has served as Head of the Corporate Management Division and subsequently as Executive Vice President at Taihan, overseeing corporate management.
According to the South Korean firm, under the new CEO’s guidance, the plans include expanding the company’s business presence in the U.S. and Europe and enhancing competitiveness in next-generation businesses, including high-voltage direct current (HVDC) and submarine cables.
“Joonseok Kim is an executive who has been closely involved in Taihan’s growth and transformation since the company’s acquisition by Hoban Group. With his extensive management experience, we expect him to further strengthen our competitiveness in the HVDC and submarine cable businesses and strengthen the foundation for sustainable growth in global markets,” A Taihan representative said.
