‘Large-scale power outages’ in Kyiv following Russian strikes
Ukraine’s capital Kyiv suffered “large-scale power outages” on Saturday because of Russian strikes, the country’s largest private energy provider said.
“New large-scale power outages in the capital due to attacks. Stabilisation schedules are currently not in effect,” DTEK, a private energy firm, said in a statement on Telegram.

Germany to pursue new sanctions on Russia despite US diesel deal
Germany said it would continue to push for new EU sanctions against Russia despite Moscow’s agreement with Washington to release diesel to ease a fuel crunch.
“The German government sticks to its measures sanctioning Russia and is working jointly with its European partners on new sanctions,” government spokesman Stefan Kornelius said in a statement sent to AFP.
Major backer Germany’s “support for Ukraine in its struggle to defend itself remains unfailing”, he added.
“Diplomatic efforts for a peaceful solution continue.”
Moscow has been hit with waves of sanctions by the United States and partners since its 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
Kremlin says Putin, coordinating with Iran, shared Tehran’s views with Trump
The Kremlin said that President Vladimir Putin relayed to US President Donald Trump Iran’s position on a possible resolution to the US-Iran war, with the backing of the Iranian president, Russia’s Interfax news agency reported.
“In coordination with the president of Iran, Putin conveyed to Trump the Iranian side’s view on a possible resolution of the
conflict,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was quoted as saying.

The Russian defence ministry said that its forces had captured the settlements of Lukashove and Lobanivka in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region, Russia’s Interfax news agency reported.

Seoul’s ambassador to Ukraine returns home after POW row
South Korea’s ambassador to Ukraine returned home today, Seoul’s foreign ministry said, as a diplomatic row deepens over the transfer of North Korean prisoners of war to Seoul.
The announcement came days after South Korea said it recalled him following Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s disclosure last month of the prisoner transfer, which Seoul said put their families in North Korea at risk.
“We inform you that Park Ki-chang, Ambassador to Ukraine, returned home this morning,” Seoul’s foreign ministry said in a statement sent to AFP.
South Korean President Lee Jae Myung has demanded an official apology over the prisoner revelation.
Eight killed including three children in Russian strikes, according to regional authorities
Russian strikes on Ukraine’s southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia killed at least eight people, including three children, according to regional authorities.
The strikes came a day after Ukrainian and European officials met in Miami in a renewed diplomatic push to end Russia’s war in Ukraine.
“The death toll from the air strikes on Zaporizhzhia has risen to eight. Among them are three children,” said Ivan Fedorov, co-chair of the Defence Council of the Zaporizhzhia region.
At least 16 people were wounded, he said, and 12 were missing.
