OneSubsea, a joint venture backed by SLB, Aker Solutions and Subsea7, has secured a contract with ExxonMobil for a liquefied natural gas (LNG) development in Mozambique, under which it shall provide subsea production systems (SPS) for the project’s first phase.
Under the contract awarded by ExxonMobil Moçambique, SLB OneSubsea will deliver subsea trees, manifolds, umbilicals and associated control systems to support efficient production from the Rovuma deepwater field.
The company will provide engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and installation services for the LNG project.
In support of the project, SLB OneSubsea plans to establish a services base in Mozambique to serve operators across the region, aiming to create local training and employment opportunities and support the development of regional supply chains.

The Rovuma LNG Project includes the development of upstream facilities which will deliver gas from the offshore Area 4 resources to the onshore Rovuma LNG liquefaction plant from 18 subsea wells through a network of subsea pipelines and manifolds. Its planned production capacity is 18.6 million tons of LNG per year.
In August, ExxonMobil awarded $1.1 billion in pre-investment contracts for the engineering, procurement and manufacturing of subsea production systems, large-bore production valves and offshore line pipe for the development.
Besides ExxonMobil, the Area 4 partners are Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos (ENH), China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), Eni, KOGAS and ADNOC’s XRG.
