Did Iran put $10M bounty on Barron Trump?

    • The claim that Iran’s state television aired a $10 million bounty on U.S. President Donald Trump’s youngest son, Barron Trump, is still under investigation.
    • The rumor stems in part from a CNN report, citing a three-minute video that opened with a graphic that read “Where to kill Barron Trump?!” The article also said the Secret Service was aware of this video. Snopes found a video in Farsi that matched CNN’s description, and a Secret Service spokesperson told us that was the video the agency was aware of.
    • Snopes obtained transcripts of the video using ElevenLabs and Fireflies. We then used DeepL and Google Translate for a translation of these transcripts.
    • The video purported to reveal details of Trump’s whereabouts and his online habits. According to the transcripts, the video said it would be easy to penetrate Trump’s inner circle through his reported best friend, Bo Loudon. The video appeared to offer a $10 million “prize” for the person who might “get to Barron’s throat,” according to the translations.
    • We could not confirm that this video had aired on Iranian state TV. We also were seeking someone to confirm the online tools’ translations. We will update this report if we learn more.

In August 2026, a rumor spread that Iran’s state television had aired a $10 million bounty on U.S. President Donald Trump’s youngest son, Barron Trump.

Several users on Instagram and X made the claim. One post on X said a video had leaked Barron Trump’s location and movements, adding he was in “striking range” and offering $10 million for him (archived):

Several Snopes readers emailed and searched the website seeking confirmation of the rumor.

The story stemmed in part from a CNN article that cited a three-minute video. The article said the Secret Service was aware of this clip, which purportedly opened with a graphic that read “Where to kill Barron Trump?!”

It is true that such a video was circulating online. Snopes identified an X post by Turkish publication İstihbarat Raporu, dedicated to intelligence research and news, that shared the video in question (archived):

“The U.S. Secret Service is aware of the video and investigates anything that can be perceived as a threat toward our protectees,” agency spokesperson Nate Herring told Snopes in an email. “Out of concern for operational security, we do not discuss matters of protective intelligence.”

Asked whether the above video was the one the Secret Service had become aware of, Herring said, “That’s correct.”

We could not confirm that this video had aired on Iranian state TV. We also awaited a Farsi speaker to confirm the translation of the video. For this reason, we have left the claim unrated.

As CNN reported, the opening graphic in the video read “Where to kill Barron Trump?!” in red letters designed to look like dripping blood.

To decipher the video, we first used two separate transcription tools, ElevenLabs and Fireflies. Then we used Google Translate and DeepL to translate. According to these translations, the video appeared to assert details on Trump’s whereabouts as well as his online habits, which the maker or makers of the video said they obtained through a young woman who had approached Trump. The translations also said Trump’s reported best friend, Bo Loudon, was the person who managed his social media accounts and acted as his sole link to the “outside world.”

According to the translations, the video then said it would be easy to have Loudon invite a video game streamer to a party to eliminate Trump, offering $10 million to the streamer who would it.
