Greek Hellenic Cables, the cables segment of Belgium-headquartered Cenergy Holdings, has secured a turnkey contract from the Greek transmission system operator (TSO), Independent Power Transmission Operator (IPTO), valued at approximately €1.5 billion, to deliver the Corinth-Kos HVDC electrical interconnection.

The contract was awarded to Hellenic Cables’ wholly-owned subsidiary Fulgor for the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of the 320 kV HVDC electrical interconnection between Corinth and the island of Kos.

The company is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of the project and will manufacture the power cables at its facilities in Corinth and Thiva, Greece.

With a total power transmission of 1 GW, the project comprises an approximately 1,260-kilometer submarine cable route and 30 kilometers of underground cables, and is expected to commence in Q4 2026. Project completion is anticipated for 2030.

The signing of the contract is subject to customary statutory conditions and approvals.

Alexios Alexiou, CEO of Cenergy Holdings, said: “Projects such as the Corinth–Kos interconnection demonstrate the increasing importance of advanced HVDC technology in developing resilient networks and supporting the energy transition. We are proud to support IPTO’s strategic vision for a stronger and more interconnected national transmission system by contributing our expertise and execution capabilities to this landmark project for Greece.”
